She served as South African Ambassador to Mauritius and Argentina, and is currently serving as South African Ambassador to South Korea. She is a member of African National Congress. Her political history started before she was born. Her mother was arrested and detained for taking part in a woman’s protest shortly before her birth in 1959. With the Election of His Excellency Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela as President of the Republic of South Africa she was thrust into public again. From 1994-1998 she acted as First Lady during the Presidency of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. This involves state visits abroad; hosting foreign dignitaries in South Africa and attending official events of the Republic of South Africa. After a successful career in business her attention turned once again to politics with the appointment as South African Ambassador to the Republic of Korea. In the Xhosa language her name Zenani means “What have you brought to the world” and therein lies the essence of her political work “striving for a better African and a better World”
